Donald R. House

The firm was founded in 2006 by Donald R. House. Mr. House was previously Managing Attorney for one of the largest insurance companies in the United States. Mr. House has also served as Assistant General Counsel for U-Haul International, Inc., where he supervised and handled catastrophic injury cases across the United States and Canada. Don was also a partner at a large interstate law firm, where he handled litigation for large insurers and self-insureds.

Mr. House is a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, having served 5 years of active duty.  Don received his Bachelor’s degree, Magna Cum Laude, from Arizona State University in his hometown of Tempe, Arizona, graduating on the Dean’s List. He completed his undergraduate degree in 3 years. Don received his law degree from Arizona State University where he was named Pedrick Scholar for academic excellence. While in law school, Don served as law clerk to the Honorable Dennis W. Dairman. Again, Don graduated early from law school, having completed the 3 year course in 2 1/2 years.

Don is a past member of the Defense Research Institute and is a past director of the Arizona Association of Defense Counsel. He also lectures both academically and to the profession on negligence issues, insurance law, personal injury law, civil litigation and current Arizona case law and legislation.

Don is admitted to practice in Arizona, New Mexico, the United States District Court of Arizona and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He practices in the fields of insurance defense, personal injury, products liability, business litigation, construction law, insurance coverage and general civil litigation. Mr. House has tried, arbitrated, mediated and litigated cases for both Plaintiffs and Defendants.

Mr. House is listed in Martindale-Hubbell’s Bar Register of Pre-Eminent Lawyers and carries an “AV” rating, the highest possible, from Martindale-Hubbell.  Don has held this prestigious rating for 16 years. Mr. House has also been selected by A.M. Best as one of its Recommended Insurance Attorneys.

In 2011, Don was recognized as one of Arizona’s Finest Lawyers. Only about six percent of the Arizona State Bar’s members, including active, inactive and retired lawyers, are selected for this honor. Arizona’s Finest Lawyers recognizes legal professionals who have indisputable integrity, high skill levels and proven commitment to the rule of law in Arizona. Arizona lawyers are selected for membership in Arizona’s Finest Lawyers based on peer-reviewed nominations. Don has also served on the board of directors for the ARC of Tempe, an organization dedicated to helping individuals with developmental disabilities. He resides in Tempe with his family.
